Required diploma : High school diploma from an anglophone country. TEFL and/or university diploma (in progress or obtained) are preferred.
Minimum Age : 20 years old (Min. age 18 for applicants with extensive childcare experience)
Reports to: Site Director and Head Language counselor
Overall responsibilities: Lead both activities AND English classes. Engage campers in the culture of the village. Relay language and culture to the program participants while only speaking in the language of the village (ie. NO French allowed). Work as a team with the other counselors and Site Director.
Key areas of responsibility :
Maintain established program goals of American Village : language immersion and cultural awareness.
Ensure the physical and emotional safety of the campers at all times.
Follow all policies setforth by American Village /Nacel (as presented in contract, code of conduct, staff handbook)
Speak in the language of the village at all times.
Divide daily tasks with other counselors, such as:
Plan, prepare, and participate in the camp program (ESL classes, activities, evening programs)
Create and perform short skits, songs, cheers, etc for the daily assembly
Create teaching aids (posters, charts, etc)
Come up with new ideas for activities, bringing your experience and skills to the team
Complete necessary paperwork (lesson plans, camper language reviews, etc)
Contribute to a positive work environment!
Term of employment: varies according to camp schedule and counselor availabilities, 1 to 10 weeks.
Salary (before taxes) First Year Counselor : spring 770€ / month (26 working days) ; summer, easter, autumn 880€ / month (26 working days)
Salary (before taxes) Returning Counselor : spring 1045€ / month (26 working days) ; summer, easter, autumn 1155€ / month (26 working days)
